MSD&S ENGINEERING CONSULTANT is looking for a motivated and skilled Structural Design Engineer with relevant experience to join our Architect design department. You will be working with our team of senior engineers, EIT's, technologists, CAD designers and project managers who focus on delivering high quality and challenging structural design projects.

You will also have the opportunity to work collaboratively with other disciplines such as civil engineers, electrical engineers, and mechanical engineers on larger projects. Under the general direction of the Construction Manager, Structural engineers design, plan and oversee the construction of new buildings and, or alterations and extensions to existing properties or other structures.

 Duties and Responsibilities:

• Following sound engineering principles and practices.

• Prepare reports, designs, and drawings.

• Make calculations about pressures, loads, and stresses.

• Good knowledge in the use of structural design software such as STAAD PRO, SAP, Etabs etc. including AutoCAD. Use effectively computer-aided design technology for simulation purposes.

• Good knowledge in structural design for steel and concrete structures, concrete rehabilitation works, maintenance of marine structures including Jetties and steel structure maintenance works in process plant.

• Good knowledge in international standards and codes.

• Analyze configurations of the basic components of a structure.

• Consider the strength of construction materials and select appropriately.

• Provide technical advice on safe designs and construction.

• Obtain planning and/or building regulations approval.

• Liaise with professional staff such as architects and engineers.

• Monitor and inspect all work undertaken by contractors to ensure structural soundness.

• Follow up the civil erection, installation, maintenance & repair works on Site to ensure correct installation according to approved Work Method Statements and Construction drawings.

• To familiarize with all Management system procedures related to Health, Safety, Environment, Quality, Energy and product stewardship.

• Identify, report, and follow up risks within own area of responsibility

• Co-ordinate with Planners and end-users to ensure spares and materials are available for schedule activities and that cost-effective replenishment levels are maintained.

• Review of work requests to ensure correct activities are undertaken.

• To prepare technical specifications, scope of work and complete tender package for the civil/structural works of various projects, perform technical / bid clarifications and meetings, technical evaluation of bids, provide support during commercial evaluation / negotiations and present to various committees for necessary approvals.

• Review and approval of design & engineering documents, calculations, shop drawings, method statements, Job safety analysis etc.

• MMUP / UPDA (Required)

Qualification:

• Bachelor’s Degree in civil or structural engineering from a recognized University.

• 5 + years direct and relevant experience related to Civil and Structural Engineering works in Projects & maintenance.

• Must have experience in Concrete and Steel.

• Excellent communication and IT skills.

Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.

• Producing 3D Models / 2D Drawings / Shop Drawings for Buildings and Building related components.

• Generating Solid and Surface models using Rivet software.

• Meeting with architects, structural designers, or MEP engineers to discuss design ideas.

• Developing product designs from scratch.

• Presenting rough design drafts for client approval.

• Blending technique and aesthetics to create final designs.

• Liaising with architects, structural designers, MEP engineers, Project Engineers / Project Manager / Construction Manager with regards to information required, project progress and any potential delays.

Qualification:

• Candidate holding Degree/Diploma in engineering, computer science, or architectural studies and able to work independently in Revit software.

• With a minimum of 5 years’ experience as an BIM Modeler.

• Advanced knowledge of CAD and AutoCAD software.

• Advanced knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering, and architecture, structure or MEP.

• Basic technical design skills.

• Good communication skills.

• Strong collaborative and interpersonal skills

• Time-management skills and the ability to meet deadlines

• Proficient in the use if structural design programs such as ETABS, SAFE, PROKON, SAP, STAAD PRO, etc. including AutoCAD and Revit, etc.

• Able to model and analyze structures.

• Good experience in large scale projects such as towers/high rise buildings, commercial, etc.

• Experienced in site supervision works for commercial, residential, industrial, educational and governmental buildings.

• Able to ensure that all civil/structural works are in compliance with the approved contract documents and specifications.

• Ability to review shop drawings & check material submittals and comment to resolve any discrepancy and error noted.

• MMUP / UPDA (Required)

Qualification:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from a recognized University.

• Master's degree in Structural Engineering preferred

• Coordinate and inspect the work of sub-contractor draftspersons, technicians, and technologists on construction projects.

• Represent architect on construction site, ensuring builder compliance with design specifications and advising on design corrections, under architect's supervision.

• Check dimensions of materials to be used and assign numbers to lists of materials.

• Determine procedures and instructions to be followed, according to design specifications and quantity of required materials.

• Analyze technical implications of architect's design concept, calculating area, volumes, and factors.

• Create freehand drawings and lettering to accompany drawings and reproduce drawings on copy machines.

• Operate computer-aided drafting equipment/ software or conventional drafting station to produce designs, working drawings, shop drawings charts, forms, and records.

• Coordinate with structural, electrical, and mechanical design & drawings to determine a method of presentation in order to graphically represent building plans.
